Bethel CRC Saskatoon takes the safety and protection of children seriously. We want every visitor to know that our community is trained in abuse and prevention and awareness. It is vital that everyone in our community feels the love of God in a safe, caring environment.
It is the job of the Safe Church committee to screen, train, and monitor all of our volunteers. If you have any questions or you need to report an event, please speak to Lisa Westeringh. You can also approach any Bethel CRC staff.
During the service, we have our nursery open for children up to 3 years old. It is equipped with changing facilities and a children’s washroom. We have a call system in place to contact parents during the service if needed.
Sunday school is available for children age 4 to grade 5. We have four classes organized by school level: preschool, kindergarten-grade 1, grades 2-3, and grades 4-5. The children join their parents for worship in the main service, before being invited to go to their Sunday school classes. Our dedicated teachers teach a new Bible-based curriculum each year. They are currently going through the Dwell curriculum from Faith Alive.
Children grade 6 and older sit in the service with their families and friends.
During the week, we run groups that are open to children and young adults from the community and beyond. Friends and family are welcome.

Junior and Senior Youth
Our junior and high school students come together regularly to play games, study the Bible, and grow in their relationships with God and each other.
Junior Youth consists of grades 6-8 students and Senior Youth of grades 9-12.
Students often invite their friends to have fun and hear the gospel.
High School Catechism Class
Several times throughout the year, Bethel CRC high school students come together on Sunday evenings to study and learn the Heidelberg Catechism. Each class, the group explores one question and examines the accompanying answer and Bible verses.
The Heidelberg Catechism was written in 1531 by Protestant reformers in Germany. Created as a teaching instrument for all ages, it promoted unity and a common confession among believers. It is Calvinist in its theology and has been used for centuries by thousands of Reformed Christians. It is written in a question and answer format, divided into three sections: Misery, Deliverance, and Gratitude. Some of the 129 questions include such queries as: What is your only comfort in life and in death? Did God create people so wicked and perverse? What do you believe concerning “the forgiveness of sins”?
This class is a great place for students to ask any questions and talk about living out their faith.
